Jolene is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (with distinction) from The Family Institute at Northwestern University in Illinois, U.S.A. She is committed to bringing intentional mindfulness and authentic compassion to her clinical practice.
Jolene is trained in a wide variety of therapeutic modalities, including: cognitive-behavioural therapy, systemic family therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy and schema-focused therapy. She has completed Level 1 and Level 2 training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Recently, her work has been informed by training in Narrative Therapy and Psychodrama.
Her approach to psychotherapy is flexible and integrative, drawing from her clinical knowledge and experience, but also holding in mind each person's unique needs and preferences.

Having trained in Chicago, Illinois and worked in the U.S., Singapore and Canada, Jolene has strong interest and personal experience in the area of cross-cultural psychology and multicultural interventions.
In addition to her private practice experience, Jolene has worked in a wide variety of clinical settings, including a large public maternal hospital, an international art therapy centre and a leading graduate school of the arts. As a speaker and educator, Jolene has presented to both medical professionals and public audiences on a wide variety of issues, such as the mental health of adolescents, the psychological challenges of menopause and the benefits of mindfulness meditation.
Jolene has developed and facilitated workshops and groups on topics including eating disorders, parenting, stress management, grief & loss.
Jolene is bilingual in English and Mandarin. She offers appointments in our Vancouver office.
